Changing UK - but where's the Geography ?

This report and new area of the BBC website got quite a lot of TV and press coverage on Monday of this week.
It's a really fascinating project, which looks at the way we live today, and explores issues such as loneliness.
Unfortunately, despite Danny Dorling being Professor of GEOGRAPHY at Sheffield University, the "G Word" is not mentioned. Mention of 'Social Scientists' instead.
Apparently STOKE is the 'friendliest place' and Edinburgh is the 'loneliest'. The most 'rooted' community is apparently Bramhall, Stockport.
The research looks at something called 'ANOMIE' or a sense of belonging to a PLACE.
This might make a useful research project for students. The data that was used can be downloaded, so sections could be extracted and used to explore changing geographies of social indicators.
A good summary on MARK EASTON's BLOG, which is a useful resource to check each week, as it has a map basis to the reporting.
