Educating for a Global Future

Making the most of the Global Dimension in the new Secondary Curriculum

At yesterday's Eye to Eye showcase event at Save the Children HQ, I met Alison Huntley, who is one of the people involved in this new DFID funded national initiative "to support secondary schools make progress in delivering the global dimension in the curriculum."

Geography should clearly be playing a lead role in this particular curriculum dimension.

The project is funded by DFID.

It is free (my favourite price) for schools to register for the programme.
Contact your local regional centre or ALISON HUNTLEY at Leeds DEC.

Regional centres:
Leeds Development Education Centre (Yorkshire and Humber)
One World Network North East
East Midlands Network for Global Perspectives in Schools
East Midlands MUNDI
Global Action Derby
Reading International Solidarity Centre (RISC)
Humanities Education Centre (HEC - London)
Harambee Centre (East Anglia)

Don't forget the GLOBAL DIMENSION website too.
Make sure you have your PLANNING GUIDE FROM QCA (PDF DOWNLOAD)

If you have used GEOGRAPHY to lead on the global dimension in your school, please let us know what you did, and what worked well. We would like to support geography departments in this particular curriculum dimension.
