The Tyranny of Place

Some excellent slides in this presentation by Muki Haklay (who I chatted to at the launch of 'Mapping for Change') and colleagues from UCL at the State of the Map event in Girona.

The particularly useful sections relate to the role of maps as surfaces for stories (see the wonderful Doreen Massey section from her book "For Space") and also the maps showing the image coverage of sites like Geograph and Flickr. I have already blogged about the maps of Eric Fischer showing the difference between photographs taken by tourists and those taken by residents of London.
