Teaching Geography Summer 2014

First week of the holiday is a chance to catch up with GA journals. First up is Teaching Geography which has some very useful articles, particularly a piece on assessing without levels by John Hopkin and Paul Weeden, and a sweatshop activity which I can see myself using in the new year.
I particularly enjoyed Lisa Conlan's piece on her scheme of work for the Geography of Food. This came out of Lisa's exploration of the Geography of Food online course that I wrote while working for the GA, and it's great to see how Lisa has taken that work and developed it in exciting new directions for her school context - which was exactly what we hoped would happen with it.

Good opener to the article:

Question: How can you develop as a geography
teacher if you are between jobs?
Answer: Go to www.geography.org.uk/cpdevents/onlinecpd/geographyoffood

If you're a GA member, you can add a subscription to TG if you don't already have it delivered.
